There has been a lot in the news lately for the political junkies out there with the presidential debates and fact-checking that follows. (And if you want to analyze media coverage, compare the presidential debate link to Fox News and this one to CNN. Fox’s says “Sorry Mr. President, Candy admits…he was right,” while CNN’s main page says “debate coach: Obama stellar this time”.)
Legal issues have also been cropping up in the news because of labor strikes at 28 Walmart stores in 12 cities. A leaked internal memo has been been reported: “Legal experts said the confidential memo shows an unprecedented level of caution from a company that has taken harsh stances towards employee attempts to organize in the past.”
In world news, a 14-year old girl, Malala Yousafzai, was shot in the head by the Taliban in Pakistan. She is an advocate for girls’ education. She is currently being treated in Britain. People there are outraged by the attack. It is a chilling reminder of how far equal rights in the world still have to go, but also a reminder of the strength of those who are fighting for change.
